Extreme Weather for August 8, 2015

Good Evening,

As you get ready to start the weekend off, here are a few weather factors to be looking at. First, the heat is going to be very intense over the majority of the Southern US and extending into the Plains, with temps soaring into the upper 90's and lower 100's. Expect to see plenty of heat advisories and Excessive Heat warnings for this weekend.

Second is the tropical that is making its way across the Eastern Pacific towards the Hawaiian Island chain, this looks to remain at a minimal hurricane, but needs to be watched closely by residents in Hawaii.

Third is the severe weather, we are watching two places closely, the first is near the frontal boundary over the Plains and Great Lakes, this could be a favorable spot to see large scale thunderstorm events fire each day, due to the contrast in air masses. The second is along the Southeast and portions of the Gulf Coast, these will also be mainly generated by the daytime heating.
