Extreme Weather for Sep 4

Good Evening,

As we head into the Labor Day Weekend, most of the Central and Eastern United States will continue to experience well above average temperatures. High temperatures on Saturday is expected to reach 5-10 degrees above average in many locations, with 15 degrees above average across the Midwest.

A front will generate scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop across the Northern Plains, as well as the Upper Midwest. Some of the storms could become severe. Temperatures will continue to be very hot with highs in the 90s.

Showers are likely across the Rockies and Intermountain West. Temperatures will start off cool in the 40s and will warm into the 60s for afternoon highs.

Tropical Storm Fred has regained  intensity and is expected to remain at tropical storm level through the weekend. As of 11 p.m. AST (EDT), Tropical Storm Fred was located about 1,305 miles southwest of the Azores. Top sustained winds have increased to 40 mph, and is moving west-northwest at 10 mph. Fred is expected to weaken thanks to a cold front. However, Fred may still impact Azores late next week.

A new tropical system is developing in the far eastern Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center is predicting a 70% chance of tropical formation. We will continue to montior this and will keep you updated.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!
