Extreme Weather for July 29

Good evening,

After a weekend filled with severe weather, a soggy start to the work week was also in store from the mid Atlantic into New England dumping over an inch of rain in some locations with others seeing stronger storms and even a tornado that touched down north of Boston.

The severe weather, which is due to a cold front that has been making its way through the eastern coast, have the possibility of bringing winds of 60 mph as well as blinding downpours through tonight, early hours of tomorrow causing travel delays before the heavy rain and threat of severe weather begin to dissipate. As the second day of the work week begins, the stage will be set for much drier conditions and a cooler air mass that promises to decrease temperatures to the lower 70s through at least the middle of the week.

Tropics:

Far out in the Atlantic, The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a disturbance that’s producing showers and thunderstorms over 800 miles west of Cape Verde. The system has become slightly better organized the past few hours, however, it currently does not pose a threat to anyone. Nonetheless, chances are a tropical depression may for during the next few days as environmental conditions are favorable for further development.

Enjoy your evening,

Jen Gonzalez
