Extreme Weather Blog for July 25

Good afternoon,

An out of season cold front making its way through the southeast will continue to bring strong storms through parts of that region through this evening.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected from Delaware into Mississippi but cities from Augusta, GA into Norfolk, VA have the possibility of seeing gusty thunderstorms of up to 60 mph that can possible power outages due to downed trees and power lines. Power outages won’t be the only threat to these areas, heavy downpours are expected and these are usually accompanied by flash flooding meaning the evening commute can be a slow one for those traveling in or around these cities.

Outdoor activities will also be threatened as showers and thunderstorms are to remain in the forecast until the weekend, however, the threat for these strong storms will begin to diminish on Sunday bringing drier and possible cooler air to start off the next work week.

Happy Thursday!
Jen Gonzalez
