Extreme Weather Blog for Aug 21

Good Evening,

As severe weather pushes through a good portion of the Northern Plains, we are also watching the heat rise across the Southeast and Gulf Coast, many places already have heat advisories in effect for Thursday as temps rise into the upper 90's along with Heat Index values near 108-113F.

Thursday Headlines: Severe weather will push out of the Plains and towards the Great Lakes, the heat will be on over the Gulf Coast and Southeast, while a few isolated thunderstorms will also find their way into the afternoon heat.

TROPICS: We are still seeing a Moderate chance for tropical development of a system that is now just east of the Windward Islands, at this time its very important to be alert that a tropical will probably form in the next 2-4days and could very well have impacts on the United States, the location is not known at this time, however people living from the mouth of the Mississippi all the way over to Florida need to keep an eye on the weather and the development of this tropical system.

Enjoy your evening,
Meteorologist Joshua Kelly
