Extreme Weather Blog for Aug 3

Good evening,

Less than ideal beach conditions have been present throughout the eastern coast this weekend and will remain to be in store as rain and thunderstorms will continue until at least Tuesday.

The bulk of most of the rain is expected in or around the coast with isolated thunderstorms possible further inland, and although a complete washout is not likely, the showers and thunderstorms expected will be enough to dampen all outdoor activities from Philly to New York and into Boston. Also in store for the eastern seaboard are out of season temperatures that will be heading south as the wet weather moves out of the area.

It is anticipated that the unsettled weather will gradually begin to diminish with less showers and thunderstorms present each day through Tuesday.

Tropics:

Tropical Storm Bertha continues to track WNW through the Caribbean at about 22 mph. As of the last official advisory, Bertha is located approximately 60 miles east-northeast of Santo Domingo with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph. Tropical storm warnings have been emitted for eastern portions of the Dominican Republic as well as parts of southern Bahamas from the  Crooked Islands into Turks and Caicos. Once it has moved through the Bahamas, Bertha is expected to curve to the north-northeast staying off the coastal shores of the US.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
