Extreme Weather for Sep 13

Good evening,

After a couple of days with rain, the weekend is set to end on a chilly note for the Northeast as the thermometer heads south into the 50s with some locations dipping into the 30s.

This autumn like chill is being caused by a cold front making its way east bringing with it a blast of cold air from the Arctic. Despite being a couple of weeks shy from officially ending summer, this arctic blast has already dumped up to 8 inches of snow in some locations of Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota breaking previous early season snow records through those locations.

The blast of cooler air is expected to last through the beginning of the week bringing with it sunny skies and the possibility of frost through Monday. As the week progresses, temperatures will begin to slowly rebound reaching the 70s by the start of next weekend.

Tropics:
As predicted yesterday, out in the central Atlantic, Tropical Storm Edouard has intensified and taken shape and is expected to continue to intensify this weekend as it moves into a more favorable environment becoming the next hurricane of the season. Currently moving NW at 13 mph, Edouard is located over 1200 miles east of the Leeward Islands with sustained winds of 45 mph. No watches or warnings are in effect, however, those living or traveling to Bermuda or the Azores should closely monitor this system during the next several days.

 Enjoy your weekend!
