Extreme Weather for Sep 23

Good evening,

A blast of cooler air will welcome the fall season from the Northeast into the Midwest as a cold front makes its way out into the western Atlantic Ocean.

The work week kicked off with daytime highs that did not surpass the 60s through many locations of the Midwest and Northeast and overnight lows are expected to remain 10 to 20 degrees cooler than they have been in previous days with slight frost possible through the break of day on Tuesday. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said about those living further down south as the sweltering heat of the summer will remain from South Carolina into parts of central Texas with highs reaching and in some cases exceeding the 90 degree mark.

The autumnal equinox officially begins this evening at 10:29 PM

The same disturbance that has been responsible for blinding downpours and gusty thunderstorms through the central and southern Rockies will push further east and south Tuesday bringing locally drenching showers that will extend from Nebraska to Kansas and into the Texas panhandle. The biggest risk for these areas will be the risk of flash flooding which will remain through Tuesday evening.

Enjoy your evening,
Jen Gonzalez
