Extreme Weather for October 21

Good evening,

Umbrellas will be put to good use throughout the Northeast and New England as wet weather is set to move across the eastern United States by midweek as a storm system mimics the characteristics of a nor’easter bringing drenching rain and as well as coastal flooding to the area.

Anyone located from Virginia into Maine should expect to see unsettled weather including strong winds, and heavy downpours
beginning Wednesday and lasting through the Thursday before heading north affecting a few provinces in eastern Canada. The main concerns throughout these areas will be localized flooding due to relentless rain and wind gusts exceeding 40 mph which may lead to travel delays through many major airports. Conditions are forecast to gradually improve as of Friday as the storm system weakens and moves further north allowing for drier weather to settle over the area just in time for the weekend.

Tropics:
By the end of the week, a new tropical system may take shape over the Gulf of Mexico bringing a threat of heavy rain that may extend from eastern Mexico into Florida. An area of low pressure located over the Bay of Campeche has been producing showers and thunderstorms in the area and is expected to come in contact with a frontal system over the southern Gulf later this week raising the potential of this system becoming the next tropical cyclone of the season.
