Good evening,
Heavy downpours and the threat for flooding will close off
the work week for much of the Southeast as a disturbance responsible for heavy
snow from Colorado into the Texas Panhandle continues to track east.
The heaviest of the rain is expected to be focused from
central Texas into portions of the Deep South Thursday evening with up to 3
inches of rain in some locations. Gusty thunderstorms will most likely
accompany the blinding downpours that are forecast to move into Georgia and the
Florida Panhandle on Friday. Those living and driving through these
southeastern states are asked to exercise caution when on the road to minimize accidents
and fatalities.
By Friday evening, this system will have moved into areas of
the Mid-Atlantic producing snow along with a wintry mix that will extend from
Tennessee into the mountains of North Carolina with enough snow to cause
slippery roads throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. This system will continue to
move northeastward on Saturday with most of the lingering shower activity
across the Florida Peninsula. Dry weather will settle over the Southeast along
with a cold front that will bring a dip in temperatures extending down to South
Florida.
Enjoy the rest of the week!
