Good afternoon,
The week will end on a soggy note for the southeastern
states as a disturbance moving in from the Southwest will come in contact with
moisture from the Gulf providing for an abundance of rain that will extend from
central Texas into portions of the Carolinas.
Heavy downpours are expected to begin Wednesday evening and
extend into Thursday over central Texas with enough rain to cause travel delays
along major roads and expressways. The system will continue to make its way
east where by Friday the southeastern states can expect to see their own travel
delays. Up to 2 inches of rain are possible from central Texas into northern
Florida with higher amounts possible through the weekend, depending on how fast
the storm moves through the south.
Another hazard to accompany this system will be the snow that
will extend from Roswell, NM into Lubbock, TX that when coupled with the chilly
temperatures over the Plains will cause roads and sidewalks to become icy and
slippery through the morning commute on Thursday.
Anyone who has to travel through any roads or expressways
from Texas into the Carolinas are being advised to drive with caution as
treacherous conditions, including the hydroplaning of vehicles, are possible
through the end of the work week.
Stay safe!
Jen Gonzalez
