Good evening,
The Southeast will be in for soggy weather this week as gusty winds and heavy downpours move across the area as part of an unsettled weather system that has been affecting portions of Southwest and Plains since late last week.
Umbrellas and rain boots will become the accessories of choice from Texas into the Carolinas until at least the end of the week with some locations surpassing a foot of rain by the time things begin clearing. The amount of rain will impact hundreds of thousands of individuals forcing many to cancel or reschedule any plans.
Flooding will become the biggest concern for the southern states as the amount of rain expected can lead to an overflow of streams and rivers which can in turn affect anyone living near water. Also, as the ground becomes saturated, roads may become flooded leading to travel delays for those commuting to and from their destination. Thunderstorms should also not be discarded as this system continues to track east, therefore, air travel delays may also be possible throughout many major airports.
Wishing everyone a safe week!
Jen Gonzalez
