Good afternoon,
Umbrellas will come in handy as the week comes to an end for drought stricken California as a late season storm will move across the region dumping showers and thunderstorms as well as snow in the mountain areas.
The past few years have proven to be very dry for the Golden State as the rainy season comes with less rain and below average snowfall each year but a strong upper level area of low pressure promises to bring some sort of relief at least for a couple of days, although not providing the much needed relief sought by those who reside in the state. Thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusty winds are probable on Friday, especially through Southern California, with possible flooding that will force motorists to be on high alert when driving.
Those living by or traveling to the higher elevations should expect to see snow along with cooler temperatures that are forecast to be at least 10 degrees below average for this time of year. As the weekend approaches, the system will move further east bringing severe weather to the Plains while dry weather takes center stage for Californians once again.
Enjoy your day,
Jen Gonzalez
