Extreme Weather for June 25

Jen Gonzalez

Good Evening,

The Northwest will be flirting with triple digit temperatures as Mother Nature cranks up the heat in that are due to an upper level high that will develop and remain through the beginning of July.

Several cities will see
temperatures up to 30 degrees above normal breaking records from Seattle to Salt Lake City with some locations seeing their thermometers rise above 110F Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, the extreme heat coupled with very low humidity will only add more fuel to the wildfires being fought from Arizona into Oregon. Because of the fierce heat, necessary precautions should be taken to stay safe. Anyone with outdoor plans should stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and wearing light colored clothing.

Intense thunderstorms will extend from the Ohio Valley into the mid-Atlantic on Thursday as storms currently over the Plains continue to gain strength and move east.

The full spectrum of severe weather is expected, especially Thursday evening, extending from Kansas City into Cincinnati with squall lines and downburst winds possible as well. Downed trees and power lines should not come as a surprise and the risk of flooding will increase, especially in areas that have been recently affected by Bill.

A safe and happy week!
Jen Gonzalez
