Extreme Weather for Sep 22nd

Good evening,

Soggy weather is headed to the southeastern United States later this week as a storm that's currently over the Atlantic Ocean moves into that vicinity with possible tropical characteristics. Areas from the Sunshine State into Virginia will experience an increase in humidity followed by drenching rain, thunderstorms and at times gusty winds.

Along with the heavy downpours and windy conditions, winds are expected to blow from the north which will bring rough surf and rip currents to the east coast beaches from eastern GA to Virginia Beach. Those with plans to attend the beach or partake in boating activities should do so with caution and follow any advise given by local authorities as conditions can become dangerous and the amount of lifeguards on duty diminishes starting this time of the year.

Further north, an area of high pressure is forecast to extend from Philadelphia into New York where thousands of people are expected to gather for mass as Pope Francis visits the country. The possibility for a slight chance of rain will remain for this area of the country depending on how fast, if at all, the high pressure area weakens.

Enjoy your week!
