Soggy conditions have been in store for parts of the Northwest and Rockies as thunderstorms that have at times been severe have moved through those areas producing damaging winds, hail and downpours that can lead to flash flooding.
Locally severe thunderstorms have been rumbling through the
Northwest extending from Spokane into Idaho Falls before moving into the
Rockies affecting major cities from Casper, WY into Denver. Some areas throughout
the aforementioned cities, especially those in low-lying or with poor drainage,
may quickly inundate therefore residents are asked to be on alert particularly
when on commute.
These drenching downpours are part of a slow moving storm
system moving across the Northwest before stalling over the Rockies coming in
contact with monsoon moisture heading in from the south. The risk for flash
flooding with remain on Friday for the Northwest, however, a repeat of Thursday
will be limited for the Rockies as moisture will be on the decrease.
Tropics:
As we approach the heart of hurricane season, all remains
quiet in the tropics.
Enjoy your evening,
Jen Gonzalez
