A few steamy days are in store for the Northeast as a dome of high pressure is set to bring building warmth and humidity that will make daytime high temperatures reach and in some case surpass the 90 degree mark.
A combination of scorching temperatures, humidity and plenty
of sunshine will extend from the Midwest producing dense fog in the early
morning hours followed by feels like temperatures flirting with the triple
digits. As we approach the second half of the work week, cooler air will be
moving in from Canada bringing a decrease in temperatures for the weekend.
Tropics:
No storms directly impacting the US but the National
Hurricane Center is currently watching two areas of concern. The first, and
closest, is Hurricane Cristobal which continues to spin north-northeast over
the open waters of the Atlantic. Currently at a category 1 with maximum
sustained winds of 75 mph, Cristobal is expected to stay far away from eastern
coast, however, rough surf should be expected throughout the eastern seaboard
beaches through Labor Day.
The second area is a tropical wave far out in the Atlantic
hundreds of miles from the Lesser Antilles. Although it is currently producing
disorganized showers and thunderstorms, if it does develop, it could be threatening
the Caribbean islands by the weekend.
Good night,
Jen Gonzalez
