The week will end on a soggy note for the southeastern
portion of the country as scattered showers and thunderstorms are set to rumble
through that region bringing a threat of flash flooding as well as damaging
winds with hail and stronger storms in some areas.
As the weekend begins, some states in the Deep South have
the possibility of seeing these storms become severe with wind gusts at nearly
60 mph and hail up to an inch or more in diameter. Flash flooding and possible
tornadoes shouldn’t be discarded as a stationary front continues to make its
way through the eastern coast. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to remain
through the weekend but the threat of severe weather will be at a minimum.
Tropics:
Tropical Storm Iselle made landfall in the Big Island of
Hawaii during the very early hours of Friday. As predicted, the system produced
strong winds, rough surf and flash flooding that lead to the closure of several
roads as well as downed trees and power lines that left many residents in the
dark. Despite gusty winds and showers expected through the evening, Iselle has
weakened considerably since having made landfall and all tropical storm warning
have been cancelled.
Have a great weekend!
