Extreme Weather for Sep 28

Good afternoon,

An upper level disturbance along with a batch of moisture from the Gulf will be the culprit of torrential downpours and cooler weather that is expected to extend from parts of the Deep South into the Carolinas during the next few days.

By the second half of the weekend, heavy showers and thunderstorms will move across from Mississippi into Tennessee before aiming for the Carolinas by the beginning of the work week. The rain, which may become heavy enough to produce flash flooding, will lead to travel delays through cities such as Jackson, Montgomery, Atlanta and Chattanooga and although severe weather is not expected, strong wind gusts shouldn’t be discarded. The southern tail of this system will also be responsible for ongoing showers that will continue to soak the sunshine state through the first few days of October.

As the disturbance shifts away from the Deep South starting midweek, conditions are foreseen to begin improving with temperatures with temperatures diving to at least 10 degrees below average.

A safe and happy weekend to all!
