Extreme Weather for Dec 5th

Good evening,

The Plains and Ohio Valley will be ending the work week on a soggy note as a disturbance continues to make its way through that region. It all began with a mix of rain and snow for the Ohio Valley Thursday morning that sort of died down before redeveloping over Kansas and Oklahoma later in the day.

Soaking showers are forecast to extend from Kansas City into Louisville, KY through the day on Friday with low visibility leading to major travel headaches on major interstates in these cities. A half inch to two inches of rain will be possible through the aforementioned areas but some shouldn’t be surprised to see an excess of two inches.

Unlike Thursday, a wintry mix will not be expected as this system makes its way through the Plains an Ohio Valley on Friday as there will not be a convergence with colder air, however, those living in the mid Atlantic and the Northeast should prepare for icy weather over the weekend as this system will join forces with colder air as it moves into the eastern coast.

Enjoy your evening,

Jen Gonzalez
