Good afternoon,
This has been a winter that has shown no mercy to anyone. With only three weeks for the start of spring another brutal winter storm is brewing and will be wreaking havoc throughout the Plains and Midwest this weekend.
As warm, moist air from the Gulf collides with colder air around the Plains, ice, snow and rain will begin to form around the four corners region leading to record breaking snowfall for Denver before aiming for Dallas, Oklahoma City and Wichita where slippery roads will cause travel delays for hundreds of motorists.
As Saturday evening progresses, heavy snow will extend north from Kansas City into St. Louis and northeastward into Chicago and Detroit. Snow and low visibility will be the main factors affecting road and air travel across many major interstates and airports throughout the Midwest this weekend.
As this system begins to clear from these areas Sunday, it will set its sight from the Mid-Atlantic into Northeast which will begin the month of March with more snow and ice. The central Appalachians and the Carolinas will be the first to receive the brunt of this storm before it begins to move up the eastern seaboard leaving its mark from Pennsylvania into Connecticut. The Monday morning commute will be a slow one for those located in New England as snow and ice will be responsible for slick travel.
Have a safe weekend!
Jen Gonzalez
