After weeks upon weeks of brutal cold and winter weather, relief is in sight for the Midwest and East as mild conditions are expected to linger through the end of the work week.
A change in weather pattern will have temperatures flirting with the 40s and 50s throughout areas that haven’t seen those numbers in many weeks. Cities from Minnesota into Maryland and up the New England coast will experience their highest temps of the year allowing for snow that remain on the ground to begin melting. This melting, however, can cause flooding issue across portions of the Ohio and Tennessee Valley therefore, those living in or around these areas may want to take precautions.
While some bask in dry and clear weather, not all will be as fortunate. Heavy showers will move across the Gulf coast and the Ohio/Tennessee Valley throughout the week as an area of low pressure makes its way through the region.
Flooding downpours are possible through various locations in Texas as up to 4 inches of rain are expected, with some areas possibly seeing more. Other risk factors include reduced visibility along with vehicles hydroplaning, forcing drivers to take all necessary precautions when driving. Showers are expected to diminish by midweek ahead of a new storm shaping over the Gulf which will bring more showers along with thunderstorms to areas already saturated with rain or melting snow.
A safe week to all!
