Good evening,
After a brutal winter, the Midwest and Northeast basked in some warm temperatures this past weekend, but this increase will be short lived as colder air is set to move into those areas by midweek.
A cold front moving in from Canada, along with a dip in the jet stream, will force temperatures to dip up to 20 degrees by Wednesday with multiple shots of cold air lingering for a few more days after. Minneapolis and Chicago will be the first to see the dramatic changes in the thermometer which are expected to occur less frequently as spring knocks on the door. The waves of cold air will then be moving into the Ohio Valley followed by the Northeast towards the end of the work week where snow will melt at slower intervals due to the colder air sweeping the area.
By the weekend, those in and around the Atlantic coast may have to prepare for a little more snow before officially biding farewell to winter as a storm system currently affecting the south moves into the area with possible snow and a wintry mix extending from the mid Atlantic into portions of the upper Northeast.
A safe and happy week!
Jen Gonzalez
