Extreme Weather for March 31

Good evening,

April will roar in with very active weather for the central portion of the country as severe weather is expected to take aim at that part of the nation by midweek.

Drenching storms along with gusty winds popped up occasionally through the end of March with Oklahoma and Arkansas getting lashed the hardest but come Wednesday, thunderstorms accompanied by large hail and damaging winds will extend from Nebraska into Iowa as well as Kansas and Missouri, all will also face the risk of possible tornadoes.

The culprit of these storms will be a strong cold front that is moving east across the central Plains with the most violent of the severe weather taking place all day Wednesday moving southeast through Kansas City, Topeka, and Des Moines along with other neighboring cities. By Thursday, these storms are not expected to be as severe when they move through the Ohio and lower Mississippi Valley, however, flooding may become a concern as the ground is already saturated and streams are at higher levels than usual due to recent rain events.

Stay safe!
