Extreme Weather for April 7

Good evening,

Volatile weather is set to take aim across the Central Plains by midweek as a line of severe thunderstorms make their way across that portion of the country.

Severe weather will kick off the work week with thunderstorms and large hail extending through central Texas. By Tuesday afternoon, Oklahoma and portions of western Missouri will experience a widespread outbreak of similar weather, however, these storms are not expected to be as potent or dangerous as those forming by midweek.

Severe thunderstorms accompanied by strong, damaging winds, large hail, blinding downpours and destructive tornadoes will set its sights on portions of Kansas, Oklahoma and the Lone Star State and also extend from Louisiana into Illinois starting Wednesday afternoon. This outbreak is expected to be so severe that it will threaten lives and properties through the Central Plains with eastern KS and central OK having the highest threat for tornadoes.

As the day progresses Thursday, the threat zone will then extend from northern Texas into portions of Iowa and Illinois, this time with isolated tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail and the risk of flash flooding. The system responsible for all this erratic weather will carry sufficient moisture to have nearby rivers overflowing, therefore, flash flooding is a possibility and all necessary precautions should be taken.

Enjoy your evening,
Jen Gonzalez
