Extreme Weather for April 23

Good evening,

Cooler weather will make a comeback for the Midwest and Northeast during the last week in April as the jet stream takes a dip down south bringing with it waves of colder air.

During the past several weeks, many cities from the Great Lakes into the northeastern portion of the country have experienced temperatures of up to 10 degrees above average for this time of year. However, things will completely turn around as the latter part of the month arrives with the digits on the thermometer falling to up to 10 degrees below their average.

The cool down, which will be accompanied by crisp northwest winds, is expected to linger into the first week in May with some areas seeing overnight lows dipping below the freezing point at times. Daytime highs are also expected to remain below average with some days seeming more like the month of March rather than late April or early May.

For those who prefer warmer conditions, temperatures are expected to rise to or exceed their normal digits shortly after the start of next month.

A happy week to all!
Jen Gonzalez
