Good evening,
The threat for severe weather will loom across the Appalachians and parts of the Northeast tonight as a slow moving front fires up strong thunderstorms that can potentially bring blinding downpours, large hail and damaging winds.
The I-95 corridor from Washington into the city of New York will be affected with heavy rain and gusty winds which can lead to travel delays due to reduced visibility. As the system continues to track up the eastern seaboard, the hazardous weather is expected to diminish with only showers and possible thunder by daybreak on Tuesday. Umbrellas will remain the article of choice through tomorrow evening as the unsettled weather is expected to continue with rounds of storms bringing heavy rain and gusty winds extending form the mid-Atlantic into New England.
Out in the tropics, all remains quiet in the Atlantic, however, the same cannot be said about the Pacific where two storms have already made a name for themselves so far this season. The most recent, the once very strong Hurricane Blanca which has weakened considerably in the past several hours but that is expected to carry plenty of moisture into the southwestern portion of the United States.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop over southern Cali, Arizona and Nevada before heading into the four corners region by midweek. Flooding will be possible but only on a local level especially through locations with streams and creeks.
Enjoy your week!
Jen Gonzalez
