Extreme Weather for June 16

Chief Meteorologist Joshua Kelly
Dakota Weather Consultants
Good Evening,

Taking a look across the country today, we have had everything from a tropical making landfall to extreme heat and heavy rains.

Tropical Storm Bill made landfall just south of Houston TX this morning, bringing the area more heavy rainfall as they continue to go from drought to excessive rains now, along with the rain wind gust were in the 50mph range during landfall as well.

The heat was on over the Southeast US with some places seeing temps in the mid 90's and heat index values approaching 100F, expect to see more of the same tomorrow over this region, with some relief by late week.

The Northern Plains continue to see their above normal rainfall with another day of rain over the region, some places in Nebraska are now approaching 8-12inches for the month.  This will back off to more of an isolated version for the rest of the week ahead of the next storm system.

The Gulf Coast saw another warm and humid day with very isolated nature thunderstorms today, expect to see more off the same for Wednesday.

Enjoy your evening,
